Pub ‘oozing’ with history in Lincolnshire saved and run by seven locals

Nestled into the corner of a Lincolnshire hamlet is a beloved pub "oozing" with history that has been saved by seven devoted locals. A bookkeeper, a potato farmer, and an engineering company director are amongst the new owners who have banded together with a varied skill set to keep The Blue Bell Inn pub in Tattershall Thorpe on its feet.

Serving as the "focal point" of the area, The Blue Bell Inn dates back to 1257 and is well-known for its visits from the RAF heroes, the 617 Dambusters Squadron that frequented the pub. The pub was taken over by the seven new owners on Wednesday, January 11, and has received lots of support from locals.

About the story

This story is an example of a positive local news story and it performed really well for Lincolnshire Live on Facebook. It received 3k likes and 299 comments on Facebook and 37,394 page views on our site, making it one of my most viewed stories.

I spoke to two new owners of the pub; Debbie Gorensweigh, a grandma who makes pottery, and Ronnie Haines, a potato farmer. I spoke to them after we were sent a message in our Facebook inbox about the news and knew it would perform well for us and was a heartwarming story.
